MAEGA Scholarship

Scholarships available to all eligible Latinx seniors graduating from the San Dieguito Union High School District who plan to attend college or an accredited vocational/tech school.

Applications are closed for the ‘25-’26 MAEGA scholarship.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a MAEGA scholarship, students must

  • Be of Mexican or other Latinx heritage.

  • Demonstrate financial need.

  • Hold a minimum 2.0 GPA (Grade Point Average).

  • Be a high school senior in San Dieguito Unified High School district.

  • Be planning to attend an accredited university, community college, technical or vocational school, or graduate program.

  • Complete the application form, electronically, and submit by the deadline.

Application Checklist

Your completed application must include the following:

Completed Application Form: filled out electronically. Leave no blanks.

Short Essay: 2 typed pages with your full name on both pages, explaining how you meet the four eligibility requirements listed above.  Be sure to be specific about the way in which you qualify in terms of Mexican/Latinx heritage.  You may also discuss your career goals, what you plan to study, personal interests, why you want to further your education, your family background, any challenges you and your family have overcome and personal interests. Upload as a PDF.

Two (2) Recommendation Letters: Provide the names and email addresses of two recommenders, at least one from a school counselor or teacher. No PDF required. For instructions see Section 6 of the form.  

High School Transcript: Include your current senior year courses. This must be the 1 or 2-page transcript you get from your counselor or registrar, not an Aeries printout.  It does not have to be an “official” transcript with the registrar's signature.  Upload as a PDF.

Proof of Family Income: A Copy of your Student Aid Index Form OR Copies of your parents’/guardians’ 2023 W-2s (wage and tax statements) and/or your parents’/guardians’ 2-page income tax return.  For security reasons, be sure to “X” out all social security numbers.
